Online Arabic Placement Testing

My role as an Instructional Technologist at Ohio State focused on supporting instructors converting their courses from one Learning Management System to another. Perhaps the most challenging, yet rewarding, transition I facilitated was the Arabic language program’s placement testing assessments.

Previously, all testing was conducted on paper because the LMS didn’t support text written from right to left. After some testing, investigation, and a little bit of coding, I was able to convert their paper placement tests to an online format using the new LMS.

While I’m unable to show the test in full, I’ve included a screenshot of the test creation process, an excerpt from supporting documentation I created for test takers, as well as slides from a presentation I delivered on the project to the Ohio State Exploring Learning Technologies group.
